Albania reports 1st mpox case
The Albania Ministry of Health and Social Protection informs the public that the Committee for the Prevention and Control of Monkeypox Disease met recently, following the identification and confirmation of the first case of Mpox, or monkeypox in the country.
This is an imported case, a male Albanian citizen in his thirties.
The case was suspected by medical personnel at the Infectious Diseases Hospital at the University Hospital of Tirana and was confirmed by the Institute of Public Health.
The Ministry of Health and Social Protection assures citizens that all necessary measures have been taken and are being implemented to prevent the spread of the infection, in accordance with national guidelines and protocols, as well as in support of the recommendations of the World Health Organization.
