The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in Dhaka, Bangladesh reported 926 additional patients due to dengue fever on Saturday, bringing the country total to 24,034 cases year to date.
In addition, the death toll this year has risen to 131 through September 21.
The bulk of the cases have been reported in the Dhaka area (>13,000) and the Chittagong area (>5,500).
After a relatively quieter first seven months of the year, officials saw the case count surge in August with 6521 cases and so far in September, 11,193 cases have been tallied.

This compares to some 182,000 dengue cases and more than 800 deaths reported during the same period in 2023.
In 2023, Bangladesh saw a record epidemic of dengue closing out the year with 321,179 total hospitalizations and 1,705 deaths.
