In a follow-up on the dengue fever situation in Bangladesh in 2025, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has reported more than 4,000 (4128, to be exact) dengue cases since my last report 2 weeks ago.
In addition, the death toll has risen from 29 two weeks ago, to 42 today.
Health officials reported 383 cases and one death today, as the country total heads toward the 10,000 case mark.
The number of cases in June has topped 5,500 cases, compared to May when1,773 cases were recorded.
The country recorded 101,130 dengue cases, including 573 fatalities, last year, according to DGHS. Bangladesh witnessed its worst dengue outbreak in 2023 when it confirmed 321,179 cases and 1,705 fatalities.
