The Government of Goiás has registered 146,452 reported dengue fever cases to date, with 89,303 confirmed, representing a 65% reduction compared to the same period last year. Regarding deaths, 97 confirmed deaths have been recorded, and 38 are still under investigation.
Last Saturday, the Goiás State Health Secretariat (SES), held the National Day of Mobilization against Dengue (D-Day).
The action took place at Praça Criativa Central, in Senador Canedo, in partnership with the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS) of the municipality, and integrated efforts to reinforce the fight against the Aedes Aegypti mosquito during the rainy season and encourage the population to maintain continuous preventive care.
The superintendent of the Ministry of Health in Goiás, Lucas Vasconcellos, reinforced the importance of unity between the federative entities and the population. “Only with the joint effort between the State, municipality, and population will we move forward. It is important to celebrate the results achieved, but also to remain vigilant,” he added.
D-Day also promoted vaccination for the public aged 6 to 16.
Regarding the dengue vaccine, data from the State Health Department (SES) shows that, to date, 630,848 doses have been administered against dengue fever in the 4 to 59 age group. Of these, 432,372 were the first dose and 198,476 were the second dose. Of this eligible group, 206,583 people (51%) are behind on their doses and have not yet returned to receive their second dose.
In the 6 to 16 age group, 583,459 doses of the vaccine were administered, with 402,267 being the first dose and 181,192 the second dose. Of this eligible group, 193,939 children and adolescents (51.7%) are behind on their doses and have not yet returned to receive the second dose. In Goiás, the current age range for vaccine administration is 6 to 16 years.
