Despite a 48% reduction in probable dengue cases in Paraíba in 2025, the Ministry of Health reinforces that the fight against Aedes aegypti must continue. This Monday (3), the ministry launched the national campaign “Don’t give dengue, zika and chikungunya a chance”, aimed at preventing arboviruses and mobilizing the population, and announced R$ 183.5 million to expand the use of new vector control technologies throughout the country.
“Even with this improvement, we cannot lower our guard. Dengue fever remains the main endemic disease in the country, and the impact of climate change increases the risk of transmission in regions where the mosquito did not previously exist,” stated the Minister of Health, Alexandre Padilha.
The state of Paraíba currently has 7,100 probable cases of dengue fever, a reduction of approximately 48% compared to the same period in 2024, when 13,600 cases were reported. Regarding deaths, the state has confirmed seven deaths this year, a number lower than in 2024, when there were 11 recorded deaths.
In Brazil, 1.6 million probable cases of dengue fever were recorded, a 75% decrease compared to the same period last year. Deaths, which total 1,700 in 2025, also showed a 72% reduction compared to 2024.
