Health officials in the west African country of Burkina Faso reported 5,401 additional total dengue fever cases (1503 probable, 3898 suspected) since the beginning of the month, including four new deaths.
This brings the total cases reported year to date to 84,123 total cases and 88 deaths from all of the country’s 13 regions since the beginning of the year.
Among the laboratory confirmed cases, two serotypes have been detected (DENV-1 and DENV-3).
In Africa, so far in 2024, 143,301 dengue total cases (including 24,299 confirmed and 20,083 probable) and 116 deaths have been reported from 15 African Union Member States.
