Chikungunya cases continue rise in La Reunion

In a follow-up on the chikungunya outbreak in La Reunion, health authorities now put the tally of indigenous cases at 256 since August 2024.

At least one case required hospitalization of more than one day.

Cases are distributed as follows:

• Saint-Paul, Hermitage: 12

• Salt Pond, Sheunon: 96

• The Stamp:

  • Grand-Bassin: 7

  • Line of 400: 11

  • 3 Mares les Bas: 13

  • Hollow arms: 4

• Saint-Pierre, The valley: 4

Isolated cases have also been reported in the municipalities of Les Avirons, Petite-Ile, Saint-Denis, Saint-Joseph, Sainte-Marie, Le Port and Saint-Louis.
