The Kenya Ministry of Health reported last week an chikungunya outbreak in Mombasa County.
Since mid-May, Mombasa officials reported an increase in acute febrile illnesses.
25 out of 45 samples from suspected cases tested positive for chikungunya by the Kenya Medical Research Institute.
Chikungunya outbreaks have been reported in Mombasa County sporadically. The last outbreak was recorded in 2018, when 262 total cases and 151 confirmed cases were reported.
