Through the first week of December 2024, Costa Rica has recorded 30,149 cases of dengue fever, up slightly from 28,775 cases of dengue during the same period in 2023.
Of this total, 184 cases were classified as 184 dengue with alarm signs. *According to the US CDC, Dengue warning signs include abdominal pain or tenderness, persistent vomiting, clinical fluid accumulation, mucosal bleeding, lethargy, restlessness, and liver enlargement. Patients with warning signs should be monitored closely as they can be more likely to progress to severe disease.
