Dengue cases reported in Hillsborough and Pasco counties brings Florida total to 87 in 2024
Florida state health officials reported two additional locally acquired dengue fever cases during the week ending January 4, from Hillsborough and Pasco counties in the West Central part of the state.
This brings the total locally acquired cases reported for 2024 to 87 in 10 counties- Broward (2), Hillsborough (7), Manatee (8), Miami-Dade (47), Monroe (3), Orange (2), Palm Beach (3), Pasco (13), Polk, and Sarasota (1) counties.
In addition to the locally acquired cases, officials report an additional 33 travel associated dengue cases, bringing the total to 944.
Other data concerning arboviruses in 2024 include:
18 human West Nile virus (WNV) cases and ten asymptomatic positive blood donors were reported.
11 travel associated chikungunya cases were reported.
103 travel associated Oropouche virus cases.
