Dengue, chikungunya and Oropouche in Brazil

Dengue fever

Through the first five months of 2025, Brazil authorities have reported 1,463,196 probable dengue fever cases, including 1,150 deaths. Nearly 1.1 million cases are confirmed.

In addition, another 761 fatalities are under investigation.

More than half the cases (55%), or 811,637 cases are reported in the state of São Paulo, followed by Mina Gerais (153K) and Paraná (114K).

São Paulo also accounts for 796 of the total dengue deaths.

Chikungunya

The number of probable chikungunya cases in Brazil has eclipsed the 100,000 mark with 100,547. 66,733 of the cases were confirmed.

Concerning deaths, 81 chikungunya fatalities have been reported, with another 61 under investigation.

Mato Grosso state recorded the most total cases with 43,872.

Oropouche fever

The number of confirmed Oropouche fever cases reported in Brazil has risen to 11,305. This compares to 13,801 cases in all of 2024.

The bulk of the cases are from five states- Espirito Santo (6271), Rio de Janeiro (2302), Mina Gerais (1232), Paraíba (643) and Ceará (633).

In addition, 3,327 total Zika virus cases have been reported year to date.
