Dengue in Panama: Operations to reduce cases are being intensified
The Panama Ministry of Health, through the Department of Epidemiology, reports that up to epidemiological week No. 10 (March 2-8, 2025), a total of 3,208 cumulative cases of dengue were recorded nationwide.
Of that total, 2,866 cases were reported as having no warning signs, 320 as having warning signs, and 22 as having serious cases.
The report detailed that the San Miguelito Region leads the list with 903 cases; followed by the Metropolitan Region with 660 cases; North Panama with 379; West Panama with 285; Los Santos with 242; Bocas del Toro with 176; Chiriquà with 123; the Veraguas Region with 92 cases; followed by Colón with 87; East Panama with 67; Herrera with 69; Darién with 52; Coclé with 46 cases; Ngäbe-Buglé region with 24 cases; Kuna Yala with 3 cases.
To date, 267 patients have been registered as requiring in-hospital treatment. The Minsa indicated that there are three (3) deaths so far in 2025, corresponding to one (1) in the Health Region of Panama East, one (1) in Panama West and one (1) in the Chiriquà Region.

According to the report, the national incidence rate for epidemiological week 10 of 2025 is 70.2 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The Ministry of Health (MINSA) reports that operations to reduce dengue cases are being intensified in all health regions through vector control teams.
At the same time, it reiterates its support for raising awareness about eliminating all mosquito breeding sites, both around and inside homes, to prevent the transmission of dengue, Zika, Chikungunya, and any other mosquito-borne diseases.
Key measures include removing all unused containers that can collect water (cans, bottles, tires, etc.) and cleaning the house regularly.
