The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded, as of July 15, 2026, a total of 2,124 confirmed cases of Ebola, including 828 deaths, 390 recoveries and 725 patients in isolation or hospitalization, according to the situation report published on July 16 by the government through the National Institute of Public Health (INSP).
The epidemic continues to affect five provinces of the country, namely Ituri, North Kivu, South Kivu, Haut-Uélé and Tshopo, where 46 health zones are affected.
The report indicates that the overall case fatality rate stands at 39.0%, while the contact tracing rate reaches 80.3%.

Ituri remains the epicenter of the epidemic with an intensification of active case detection in several health zones, including Bunia, Nizi, Rwampara, Mongbwalu, Lita, Damas, Kilo, Mahagi and Nia-Nia, despite a security context deemed difficult.
In North Kivu, the performance of the response remains high, with an alert investigation rate of 93.9% and a contact tracing rate of 91.7%.

South Kivu, for its part, has passed the 50-day mark without a new confirmed case in the Miti-Murhesa health zone, a development presented as a sign of momentum towards the end of the epidemic in this province.
Health authorities also report that 13 new patients have been declared recovered in Ituri, while care facilities continue to provide care with logistical support in medical supplies, vehicles and ambulances.
The response continues through the strengthening of epidemiological surveillance, patient care, community mobilization, public awareness and psychosocial support in order to consolidate prevention actions in the five provinces concerned.
