In a follow-up the the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the epidemiological situation of the Ebola virus disease report, published on Friday, June 26, 2026, indicates that the Ituri province is the epicenter of the epidemic. It has 22 affected health zones: Aru, Angumu, Bambu, Bunia, Damas, Drodro, Gety, Kilo, Komanda, Lita, Logo, Mambasa, Mangala, Mongbwalu, Nizi, Nyankunde, Rimba, Rwampara, Tchomia, Kambala, Nia-Nia and Fataki.
North Kivu province is placed under priority surveillance, with 11 health zones concerned: Beni, Butembo, Goma, Kalunguta, Katwa, Kyondo, Oicha, Masereka, Vuhovi, Mabalako and Musienene.
In South Kivu, three confirmed cases have been recorded, including one death. Only one health zone is affected: Miti-Murhesa. No new transmissions have been reported since May 26, 2026, but active surveillance remains in place.
The report indicates a cumulative total of 1,203 confirmed cases, including 321 deaths, representing a case fatality rate of 26.7%. Currently, 326 patients are in isolation or hospitalized, while 148 people have recovered. The contact tracing rate has reached 82.8% across the three affected provinces.

The document also specifies that, on June 25, 2026, 148 patients were declared recovered. In the past 24 hours, more than 1,175 alerts were investigated and 142,503 travelers were screened at various points of entry.
In response to this situation, the DRC government is urging the population to be vigilant. Anyone experiencing fever, severe fatigue, or diarrhea is advised to seek immediate medical attention, without waiting for any bleeding to occur.
