Dengue fever
The Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) has reported 3,671 dengue cases, and three deaths nationally through March 9.
The dengue fever outbreak was declared in Fiji’s Western Division on February 3. The Western Division continues to lead with 2,077 cases.
The Central Division has reported 775 cases, the Northern Division has reported 748 cases, and the Eastern Division has recorded 71 laboratory-confirmed cases.
There have been 952 dengue hospital admissions from January 1st to March 23rd, with more cases expected as health facilities continue to report new cases.
The Central Division has reported a total of 178 cases, while the Eastern Division has reported 6 dengue fever cases to date.
Leptospirosis
The Ministry of Health says there have also been 610 leptospirosis laboratory confirmed cases from January 1st to March 23rd 2025. Seven deaths have been reported.
The Ministry says there have been 117 leptospirosis hospital admissions from January 1st to March 23rd, 2025 with more cases expected as health facilities continue to report cases.
They say the Central Division has reported a total of 40 cases with 1 confirmed death.
The Western Division has reported a total of 34 Leptospirosis admissions with 3 confirmed Leptospirosis deaths.
The Northern Division has reported 39 Leptospirosis admissions with 3 confirmed Leptospirosis deaths.
The Eastern Division has reported 4 Leptospirosis cases.
The Ministry says 217 laboratory confirmed cases reported from the Central Division, 173 laboratory confirmed cases from the Northern Division, 200 laboratory confirmed cases from the Western Division, and 20 laboratory confirmed cases from the Eastern Division.
The public is encouraged to pay attention to advisories on dengue and leptospirosis that have been communicated through different media platforms.
The Ministry encourages individuals to educate themselves about dengue fever and leptospirosis, implement preventive measures, and seek medical attention promptly if symptoms arise.
