West Nile virus
The Florida Department of Health reported the first human West Nile virus (WNV) case of the year last week in Alachua County.
In 2026, positive samples from one human and nine sentinel chickens have been reported from eight counties.
Chikungunya
One additional travel associated chikungunya case was reported in Osceola County, the first case of the year. The country of origin is Guyana.
This brings the total travel associated cases to 36 this year to date- Alachua, Hernando, Hillsborough (7), Miami-Dade (19), Monroe (2), Orange (2), Osceola, and Palm Beach (3).
Dengue fever
In addition, one more travel associated dengue fever case was reported in Manatee County, the first case in that county this year.
This brings the total travel associated dengue fever cases in the state to 33- Broward (6), Hillsborough (2), Lake, Lee, Manatee, Miami-Dade (11), Orange (2), Osceola, Palm Beach (3), Polk, Sarasota, St. Johns, and St. Lucie (2).
