In a follow-up from French Polynesia, health officials reported 74 new dengue cases (64 confirmed and 10 probable) last week, bringing the total dengue cases reported 1008 (934 confirmed cases and 74 probable cases) since November 27, 2023.
The new cases were reported from residents of Tahiti, which saw 34 cases, Moorea, Bora Bora, Raiatea, Huahine, Maupiti, Takaroa and Nuku-Hivan.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, no severe cases or deaths have been reported. Since July 2024, DENV-1 has become the predominant serotype in the country,
