Shigella
Kerala Health Services reports 10 additional Shigella cases, bring the total in June to 190 casses and six deaths.
Since the beginning of the year, Kerala has seen 266 total shigellosis cases.
According to officials, Kozhikode has reported 65 cases this month, followed by Malappuram (30), Wayanad (26), Thiruvananthapuram (18), Thrissur (13), Kollam (12), Kannur (11), Alappuzha (5), Ernakulam (4), and Idukki and Palakkad with three cases each.
Nipah update
In a follow-up on the Nipah virus situation in the state, no new infections have been reported two weeks after June 10 when Nipah was reported in Kozhikode district. It was confirmed that no one was infected with the disease after examining the 15 people in the current patient’s contact list. As part of the disease observation, the result of 52 people conducted in the district among those with similar symptoms was negative. However, the diagnostic procedures are continuing strongly.

No one in the Nipah patient’s contacts has been newly admitted to the hospital today. Currently, 4 people in the very high risk area and 14 people in the high risk area are in quarantine. 75 people from the low risk category are under observation.
The patient who was affected by Nipah is continuing treatment on a ventilator at Kozhikode Medical College. So far 92 phone calls from the public have been reached to the district control room for the removal of suspicion. Health workers had contacted all those included in the contact list from the district control room today also. As part of the district mental health program, 125 people have been called and ensured mental support so far. Health workers today visited 64 more houses in Ramanattukara Municipality where the disease has been reported. During the visit conducted on June 25, 3 people with fever were found.
