In a follow-up on the Shigella outbreak in Kerala state, India, state health authorities report 15 additional cases on Tuesday, with Kozhikode accounting for more than half.
Five districts reported new cases: Kozhikode (8), Malappuram (3), Wayanad (2), Kannur (1) and Kollam (1).
This brings the total shigellosis cases reported in June to date to 165, including six deaths. Kozhikode, Malappuram and Wayanad have reported the highest number of cases this month.

Since the beginning of the year, 241 cases have been reported in the state. This compares to 69 cases and no deaths reported in the first six months of 2025.
