The Israel Ministry of Health reported two additional measles cases in unvaccinated brothers from Kiryat region who appear to have been infected while outside the country.
One of the brothers traveled by public transportation on the Metronit bus rapid transit system on January 25. He boarded the Metronit’s line 4 at Haifa’s Hof Carmel central station at 3:30 p.m. and got off at the Tzabar Junction in Kiryat Bialik.
The Ministry of Health recommends that pregnant women who are not vaccinated with two doses and people who are immunocompromised to contact their family doctor or emergency medical centers to receive a preventive vaccinations.
If it is necessary to go to the clinic or the emergency room, you must coordinate the arrival and inform the staff when you arrive at the medical institution.
Since September, two patients have been reported from the Haifa District and six from the Northern District, 10 patients from Tel Aviv, one case from the Netanya area, and another case from the Jerusalem area.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that manifests itself in fever, general malaise, runny nose and rash and may have severe and even life-threatening complications.
