The Israel Ministry of Health reports that polio virus was detected in an environmental sample in the Jerusalem area.
The Ministry of Health updates that as part of the routine monitoring tests conducted in sewage in Israel by the Ministry of Health's Central Virus Laboratory, polio virus was detected in an environmental sample in the Jerusalem area.
Additional sampling findings from the Jerusalem area and its surroundings indicate transmission of this virus in the local population, however, it should be noted that, as of today, there are no new patients with the virus.
In order to protect the public from paralysis caused by the polio virus, the Ministry of Health calls for the completion of the polio vaccination for unvaccinated persons and for them to be sure to receive vaccines on time in accordance with the vaccination schedule recommended by the State of Israel.
