The chair of the Republican Center for Immunoprophylaxis in Kyrgyzstan says since the beginning of the year, 1,681 cases of measles have been registered in the country.
Of that total, 1,261 cases were associated with children under four years of age.
Two deaths from measles have been registered in Bishkek since the beginning of 2025, the chair noted. 5 deaths were recorded were recorded last year.
Bishkek, Chui and Osh regions have seen high rates of the disease.
In response of the outbreak, vaccinations are being carried out in the country. Vaccination coverage in the country ranges from 92 percent in Chui and Osh regions to 69 percent in the capital city of Bishkek.
A large-scale measles vaccination campaign is planned in the capital, and and it is planned to achieve coverage of up to 90%.
