France
In 2024 to date, health authorities in France have reported 21 locally transmitted dengue fever case from the following departments/regions—Alpes-Maritimes (2 cases), Drôme (2 cases), Gard (1 case), Hérault (1 case), Pyrénées-Orientales or Lozère (2 cases), Vaucluse (10 cases), Var (3 cases) departments.
Health officials say when an indigenous case is identified (a person who has not recently travelled to an area where the virus is circulating, having been infected locally), vector control measures are reinforced by carrying out two adulticide mosquito control treatments in a wider area (300 m).

An active case search is also implemented around the outbreaks of indigenous cases, to determine the extent of local transmission and adjust the scope of the vector control treatment if necessary. This active search is carried out jointly by Santé publique France and the relevant regional health agencies.
It is based on raising awareness among health professionals in the sectors concerned and the general population, and on door-to-door surveys in the vicinity of known cases to identify possible other cases. Appropriate measures to secure products from the human body (blood, grafts, etc.) are also implemented.
Italy
Italian officials have reported a locally transmitted dengue case in the Municipality of Albinea, Reggio Emilia province last month.
The patient is in good health and lives with people who have recently returned from a trip to an Asian country, where they likely contracted the disease. All members of the family are in good health.
