Texas
The Texas Department of State Health Services is reporting an outbreak of measles in the South Plains region of Texas. At this time, 198 cases have been identified since late January. Twenty-three of the patients have been hospitalized.
Nine counties in Northwest Texas are affected by this outbreak, with the bulk of the cases being reported from Gaines County (137)
There has been one fatality in a school-aged child who lived in the outbreak area. The child was not vaccinated and had no known underlying conditions.
New Mexico
The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) confirms that the measles outbreak in Lea County has resulted in one death and a total of 30 cases since Feb. 9.
The increase in case numbers reflects test results from the NMDOH Scientific Laboratory Division combined with cases discovered during epidemiologic investigations of known patients. These cases did not occur simultaneously, but were identified retrospectively, with many detected only after patients had already recovered from their illness.

The deceased, an unvaccinated Lea County adult, tested positive for measles after death and did not seek medical care before passing, according to laboratory confirmation from the NMDOH Scientific Laboratory Division, though the official cause of death remains under investigation by the New Mexico Office of the Medical Investigator.
Florida
A measles case was reported in Miami-Dade County on Tuesday, making it the first case for Florida in 2025.
Miami-Dade County Public Schools officials confirmed that the case was reported at Miami Palmetto Senior High School in Pinecrest.
According to Florida Department of Health data, the case was in an individual aged 15-19 years.
Washington
Public Health – Seattle & King County reported on a confirmed measles case in a King County infant recently. The infant may have been exposed to measles during recent travel abroad.
Pennsylvania
One travel-related case of measles was recently identified in an infant from Montgomery County, PA who was too young for routine measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccination. The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) is working in collaboration with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health, the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PADOH), and other local health departments to identify and monitor contacts of this measles case for symptoms.
Nationally in 2025, some 250 measles cases have been reported to date from 12 jurisdictions in the first two months.
In all of 2024, a total of 285 measles cases were reported by 33 jurisdictions.
