Panama: Dengue cases top 10,000 for the year
According to data released by the Department of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) in Panama, 10,581 accumulated cases of dengue have been reported throughout the country through October 21.
The regions with the most positive cases are: Bocas del Toro with 2,814 cases; Columbus with 2,293; Panama Metro with 1,320 cases; Chiriquí with 930 cases; Panama Oeste with 911 cases; North Panama with 678 cases and San Miguelito with 408 cases.
In addition, the Department of Epidemiology reports on the appearance of a new serotype—Dengue type 4, which is circulating in the country.
Health authorities maintain interregional operations throughout the country to counteract cases of dengue and, together with the regional Health Promotion team, continue to carry out prevention campaigns in the population to eliminate, together, breeding sites. of the dengue-transmitting mosquito.
Likewise, the population is reiterated not to let their guard down, apply prevention measures with the elimination of breeding sites, cover water collection containers, change the water in pet waterers, keep patios, gutters and drains clean, place screens on doors and windows, use repellents and citizen participation with volunteers in the communities, buildings, to eliminate all breeding sites since they are places that may have breeding sites for the transmitting mosquito.
