The Paraguay Ministry of Health reports in the past three weeks, 32,212 dengue notifications have been recorded, of which 4,848 were confirmed.
Currently, the following 9 regions account for 83 percent of the total cases: Central, Itapúa, Asunción, Alto Paraná, Caaguazú, Paraguarí, Guairá, Cordillera and Misiones.
Since the beginning of the year, Paraguay has recorded 212,939 total dengue cases. 50 deaths have been reported.
87% of the samples processed so far this year tested positive for DENV-2, the predominant serotype in the national territory.
Health officials recommend if you present fever or other symptoms of dengue, you are encouraged to go to the doctor in a timely manner to detect the appearance of warning signs early and avoid complications of the condition. Avoid self-medication and traveling to other cities with symptoms to prevent the spread of the virus.
Pay main attention to the warning signs which may be: abdominal pain, vomiting, altered consciousness, bleeding (gums, nose, genitals and others).

In addition, eliminate breeding sites: It is important to periodically control and eliminate mosquito breeding sites to combat dengue and other arboviruses.
- Discard any unused object that accumulates water.
- Useless objects that cannot be disposed of, such as household appliances, tires or others, must be placed under a roof or covered to prevent them from accumulating water.
- Cover tanks, drums or any container that contains water that will be used so that mosquitoes do not enter.
- Change the animals' water daily, after cleaning the container with a brush, water and soap, in order to eliminate any eggs that may have stuck to the walls of the container.
- Replace the water in the vases with wet sand.
- Chlorinate the water in swimming pools to prevent the reproduction of mosquitoes.
