The Cavite Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) has reported a surge in dengue fever cases early in 2025.
From Jan. 1 to Feb. 22, PESU recorded 3,379 dengue cases, a 409 percent increase from the same period in 2024 (664).
The city of Imus tops the list with 501 cases in the province, followed by Bacoor (456), Dasmariñas (416) and General Trias (394).
Of the total cases, 33 were classified as severe and eight fatalities were recorded, with three from Trece Martires City, two from General Mariano Alvarez, and one each from Silang, Carmona, and Bacoor.
Nationally, Philippines health officials have reported 52,000 dengue cases through February 22.
