Philippines: Dinagat Islands reports confirmed mpox case, 2nd in Caraga region

In a follow-up report from one month ago, the Dinagat Provincial Health Office (PHO) reports a confirmed mpox (monkeypox) case in a patient that traveled to Davao City and South Cotabato in May.

This is the second confirmed mpox case in Caraga region.

The case sought medical care during the end of May after showing typical symptoms of mpox.

Following the confirmation of mpox infection, the patient was isolated and received treatment at a local medical center last month, fully recovering by June 30.

Health officials report the patient's immediate close contacts have also been closely monitored in Dinagat, and none have shown signs or symptoms of mpox infection.
