The Philippines Department of Health has reported 314,785 dengue fever cases through October 26, but officials say that most regions of the country are reporting a declining number of cases recently.
From Sept. 29 to Oct. 12, there wee 21,097 cases reported nationwide. This figure is 8 percent lower compared to the 23,032 cases reported from Sept. 15 to 28.
The only regions that logged an increase in cases from Sept. 29 to Oct. 12 are the National Capital Region with 3,002 cases from 2,765 cases; Central Luzon with 2,351 cases from 2,219 cases; and Calabarzon with 3,513 cases from 2,907 cases.
In addition, officials report a lower case fatality rate in 2024 with 0.26 percent. This compares with the 0.34 percent reported during the same period in 2023.
The DOH attributes this to better health-seeking practices and improved healthcare delivery.
