About two weeks ago, the Quezon City Government, through the City Health Department (QCHD), declared a dengue outbreak with 1,769 cases reported through February 14.
In an update today, city officials report a continued battle with dengue in the city. As of Thursday, February 27, the total number of dengue cases in Quezon City was put at 2,779, a 283 percent increase in cases compared to the same period in 2024.
The dengue death toll in the city has also risen by one to 11, mostly in minors.
In response to the outbreak, the Quezon City government has kept health centers open on weekends and launched a "fever lane" at medical facilities to quickly attend to patients exhibiting symptoms.

In addition, city officials are working closely with the barangays (villages) for mosquito control and general awareness.
Nationally, since the beginning year through February 15, the Philippines Department of Health has recorded a total of 43,732 cases, 56% higher than the 27,995 infections in the same period in 2024.
