The Philippines Department of Health announced it will begin a measles vaccination campaign, aka Ligtas Tigdas, in January 2026.
The first phase of the supplemental immunization activity will cover Mindanao and the Bangsamoro region from Jan. 19 to Feb. 13, while the second phase will extend to Luzon and Visayas in June. The campaign will target children aged six months to five years.
In 2025, the Philippines reported 4,843 cases of measles-rubella in 2025, with 73 percent of cases reported in unvaccinated people.

The total number of cases this year is up nearly 30 percent this year (3,748).
The National Capital Region (NCR) leads all regions with 1,027 cases, followed by the Bangsamoro Region with 768, and Calabarzon with 505.
