In a follow-up on the Rift Valley fever (RVF) outbreak in Senegal that started in September, the health ministry reported 25 additional confirmed cases, bringing the total to 196 through October 16.
The Saint-Louis region still reports the most by far with 179 confirmed case, or 91 percent of the total. Richard-Toll district has seen 105 cases alone.
Two additional cases were reported in Louga region bring that total to six, Matam region reported one additional case for a total of eight and Fatick region reported their second case.
A new region has been affected with a case confirmed in Keur Massar district in Dakar region.
To date, 21 fatalities have been reported, up by one compared to our last report, and 147 people have recovered.
