As of 16 June 2025, the Ministry of Health reported 104 laboratory-confirmed cases of dengue fever for week 24 (9-15 June 2025), bringing the total number of confirmed cases since the outbreak was declared on 17 April 2025 to 397, including one death.
The majority of cases (82%) are from Upolu Island (54% males and 46% females). Most cases are distributed in the urban area of ​​Apia and Northwest Upolu, with the highest incidence in people under 20 years of age.
Of those infected, 15% were hospitalized (85% of whom were discharged). Of the 20 cases with confirmed serotypes, 85% are DENV-1 and 15% are DENV-2.
The Ministry of Health continues to collaborate with various sectors by adopting a whole-of-government approach through the Integrated Vector Control Committee. Interventions currently focus on eliminating breeding sites and environmental sanitation measures, continuing risk communication and dengue prevention measures in all media.
The population is strongly encouraged to wear long-sleeved clothing to limit the risk of infection, use mosquito nets and repellents, remain vigilant in case of severe symptoms and seek immediate medical attention if necessary.
