São Paulo accounts for nearly 60% of dengue cases in Brazil, All the yellow fever cases
Dengue
According to the Brazil Ministry of Health, the state of São Paulo has recorded 134,627 probable dengue cases through February 7, which accounts for 58.4 percent of the cases nationally (230,191).
In addition, the state has reported 49 dengue related fatalities, out of 67 deaths recorded nationally. In São Paulo alone, another 199 deaths are under investigation.
In the city of São Paulo, 3,875 probable cases an 12 deaths have been recorded.
Yellow fever
During the first four weeks of 2025, São Paulo state for all of Brazil’s seven confirmed cases, including four deaths.
The probable place of exposure of the cases was the municipalities of Socorro (n=4 cases), Tujuti (n=1 case) and Joanópolis (n=2 cases). None of the cases had a history of vaccination against yellow fever. All cases had a history of exposure in wild and/or forested areas, due to work or ecotourism activities, and were laboratory confirmed by RT-PCR.
Both the city and state of São Paulo are reinforcing their yellow fever vaccination alerts, with vaccination coverage rates around 80%, above the national average of 73.78% but below the recommended 95%.
