West Texas
The number of measles cases reported in the outbreak in the South Plains and Panhandle regions of Texas has risen to 259.
The outbreak is now reported in 11 counties, with Lamar and Cochran counties being the latest.
Two of the cases were fully vaccinated, while the bulk of cases were unvaccinated or unknown status.
There has been one fatality in a school-aged child who lived in the outbreak area. The child was not vaccinated and had no known underlying conditions.
New Mexico
According to the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH), the outbreak tally has grown to 35—Lea County (33) and Eddy County (2).
In Lea County, two hospitalizations and one death were reported.
Officials in both Texas and New Mexico expect to continue to identify new measles infections associated with this regional outbreak.

Kansas
The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) and the Stevens County Health Department have reported a positive case of measles in a resident of Stevens County. It is currently unknown whether this case is linked to any ongoing measles outbreaks in the United States.
This marks the first measles case in Kansas since 2018.
Michigan
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) and Oakland County Health Division have confirmed an adult case of measles in Oakland County. This is the first confirmed case of measles in Michigan this year and the first case since July 2024.
The infected adult had recent overseas travel and their vaccination status is unknown.
Including Kansas and Michigan, there has been 17 jurisdictions reporting measles since the beginning of the year.
The number of cases reported nationally (well over 300) has already eclipsed the total cases reported in all of 2024 (285).
