In an update on the Sri Lanka dengue outbreak, according to data from the Sri Lanka National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU), the dengue total has reached 52,068 cases through June 27.
Of this total, 18,227 cases were reported since June 1, or 35 percent of the total this year.
The Colombo and Gampaha districts have accounted for 40 percent of the country’s total cases, with 10,839 and 10,113 cases reported, respectively.
The death toll has risen to 31.
During the past week ending June 21, 5,267 suspected dengue cases were reported across 24 districts, up 9.3% compared to the week prior.
