The Sri Lanka National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) of the Ministry of Health reported 21,547 dengue fever cases in June and already 3,422 cases in the first days of July, bringing the outbreak total in the country to 58,810 through July 3.
This total is nearly double the cases reported during the same period in 2025.
During the week ending June 28, 6,009 cases were reported across 26 districts, a nearly 15% increase over the total cases reported in the prior week.
Year to date, Colombo district has reported 12,017 cases, followed by Gampaha with 11,740. They account for four out of 10 of the total cases accross the country.
The death toll has risen to 39.
Meanwhile, island-wide mosquito control programs are being carried out under the guidance of the Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils, and Local Government.
