Venezuela’s Ministry of Health confirmed this Tuesday the deaths of three people in the eastern state of Anzoategui due to hantavirus infection, while stressing that the outbreak remains localized and poses no widespread risk to the general population.
Health officials report that all three victims tested positive for hantavirus after clinical and laboratory confirmation.
The Public Health System remains deployed throughout the affected territory to monitor the situation and safeguard sanitary conditions for all Venezuelans, authorities said.
In addition, the Ministry also reported the deaths of two medical professionals in the western state of Barinas, whose causes remain under investigation. Officials were emphatic in clarifying that both events are focalized and unrelated, with no epidemiological link between the Anzoátegui outbreak and the Barinas deaths.
