Since the beginning of the year, Ho Chi Minh City has recorded more than 500 measles cases, including 3 deaths due to measles. About 50% of measles cases were transferred from other provinces.
Measles has been reported in 57 wards and communes, 16 districts of the city. Of which, 9 districts have 2 cases or more. The 3 districts with the highest number of measles cases are Binh Chanh district, Hoc Mon district and Binh Tan district.
The Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management with the Ministry of Health has sent a document to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health regarding strengthening the prevention and control of measles infection in medical examination and treatment facilities.
According to Dr. Nguyen Trong Khoa - Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management, the current measles situation in Ho Chi Minh City is complicated. To ensure safety and minimize measles infection in medical examination and treatment facilities, the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment Management requests the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to urgently and effectively implement activities to prevent and control measles infection in the entire city, including vaccination activities.
Since the beginning of the year, Vietnam has recorded more than 2,000 measles cases.
