The Ministry of Health in Zambia, in south central Africa, report a 98 percent decrease in cholera cases early in the year.
Through February 18, 2025, 278 total cases and nine deaths from 12 districts in six provinces the country, with the most being reported from Chililabombwe (214), near the Democratic Republic of the Congo border.
This compares to the same period in 2024, when the country saw 14,780 cases and 513 deaths.
In all of 2024, Zambia reported more than 20,000 cholera cases and more than 600 deaths.
