The current period of the southern summer is very favorable to the spread of arboviruses (dengue and chikungunya), particularly with the arrival of recent rains.
ARS La Reunion recommends the following for the public:
Eliminate stagnant water where mosquitoes can lay their eggs (mosquito nests):
Bowls, small objects, tires, etc. Done regularly, this helps reduce the density of mosquitoes around your home and thus reduce the risk of transmitting the virus.Protecting yourself from mosquito bites
Repellents and mosquito nets are the most effective means of protection. Diffusers or covering clothing can also be used.Consult your doctor if you have symptoms : fever, headache, joint and/or muscle pain, nausea/vomiting, conjunctivitis, etc. This allows for a rapid diagnosis and ensures appropriate care to limit serious forms of the disease.
For people who have contracted the disease, it is important to continue to protect themselves as long as symptoms persist, to avoid transmitting the virus.
