In a follow-up on the malaria outbreak that began during epidemiological week 45 2024 in Namibia, the country’s Ministry of Health (MOH) now reports a cumulative 3,173 malaria cases and 19 deaths from all 14 regions in the country.
The outbreak is active in 17 of 121 districts in Namibia.
The MOH activated the incident management system and the public health emergency operations center to coordinate response efforts.
The MOH continues to intensify case-based surveillance, risk communications, and community engagement in the most affected districts.

Additionally, environmental activities such as larviciding in affected communities is ongoing.
Indoor residual spraying was conducted in nine malaria-endemic districts achieving a preliminary coverage of 55 percent.
