In a follow-up on the dengue epidemic in Taiwan, some good news from the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Tainan City, a city of 1.8 million people in the southwest part of the island, and the place where some 90 percent of the 15,000 dengue cases reported nationally are found.
The good news is, Taiwan is reporting a decrease in cases in Tainan City. They note that the dengue fever epidemic in Tainan City has dropped significantly this week. The number of cases in the past five days has decreased by 27% compared with the same period last week.
This shows that the prevention and control results are good, the public's awareness of epidemic prevention has increased, and the weather conditions are conducive to epidemic prevention. It is expected that the epidemic situation will continue to decline, but prevention and control measures must continue to be implemented to achieve the goal of halving the number of cases by the end of October.

The CDC reminds that although the temperature has cooled down recently, which is more conducive to epidemic prevention, it should not be taken lightly. When people go out to participate in outdoor activities such as the National Games, they must strengthen personal protection measures, wear light-colored long-sleeved clothes and pants, and use government agencies to ensure safety. Mosquito repellents containing active ingredients such as DEET, Picaridin or IR-3535 can be used. Only by taking anti-mosquito measures to reduce the chance of being bitten by mosquitoes can you effectively block the dengue fever epidemic and protect the health of yourself, your family and friends.
